Following my recent posting: Train excursion to the Touraine ~ poster by Gustave Fraipont, 1893, below is a further selection of Touraine Region railway posters dated between 1896-1910.
Here’s a little background on identified artists:
Hugo “d'” Alési (1849-1906). Had a number of aliases: Friedrich Hugo Alési; Friedrich Hugo Alessi; Hugo “d'” Alessi; Hugo D’Alesi. Born in Rumania he was a painter and a graphic designer who created a large number of tourist posters for the railway companies of the nineteenth century. He also produced posters for shipping companies and car manufacturers.
Louis Tauzin (1842-1915), was a landscape painter and lithographer. He was a student of the Municipal School of Bordeaux.
Théophile Poilpot, (1848-1915) was a noted and French military artist famous for his panoramic battle scenes.
